Collagen Stimulator

Collagen stimulator* or bio stimulator as it is also sometimes called, is an alternative to filler and is made of the same substance used to make dissolvable stitches. When injected, this product stimulates a natural production of collagen which rejuvenates and revitalises the skin. This restores structure and volume deep within the skin, as well as helps to improve the more superficial effects of aging, such as reduced elasticity and skin crepiness.

How many treatments will I need?

Collagen stimulator requires a minimum of 2 treatments. An optional 3^rd treatment can be considered for some patients.

Who is this treatment ideal for?

It is ideal for adults of all ages but particularly those who are noticing the effects of aging and wanting a boost in their collagen levels and skin quality. It is also an excellent alternative for anyone with severe volume loss and requiring a large volume of dermal filler for rejuvenation or for athletes or people who metabolise dermal fillers quicker than desired.

How long do results last?

Following 2 treatments, spaced 8 weeks apart, patients can expect to notice new collagen which will build over 4 – 6 months. This new collagen is likely to last a couple of years and is not likely to metabolise as fast as dermal filler.

Maintenance treatments should be considered every 1-2 years and your Respectable Injectables practitioner will discuss this with you.

Can this product be used anywhere on the face or body?

The collagen stimulator is ideal for volume replacement in the temples, cheeks, mid face and contouring of the jawline. It is also ideal for treating crepiness in the neck and décolletage.

It must not be used in the lips, around the mouth or under the eyes. Dermal fillers must be administered for these treatment areas in order to achieve full-face rejuvenation.

Are there any side effects?

Skin reactions are common, and these can include tenderness, swelling, bruising, skin redness, tingling and itching. These reactions usually subside within 1 to 2 days and should not cause too much concern. An injectable anaesthetic is frequently used, making the treatment very comfortable.

Serious side effects to collagen stimulator are very rare but can include infection, allergic reaction, impaired circulation to the area treated (or surrounding tissue), stroke or blindness. While these things sound scary, it must be stressed that the chances of them happening are incredibly low. Your Respectable Injectables practitioner will discuss all these risks with you before any treatment is provided, as well as explain the things they will do, to significantly lessen the chance of any serious complications.
